Day 4 More Subways and Rain in New York

Michael Keaton filming a movie here

Started off our second day in New York by taking the subway to Times Square and Broadway. Times Square was a bit more quiet than it was the previous night when we were there. As we walked to our breakfast we walked by many Broadway theaters. One of which is a false ad. One theater is being used to film a movie starring Michael Keaton who is in a Broadway play. They have a fake billboard up as they are using that theater to film the movie. We also saw Good Morning America being filmed live.

After another subway ride we arrived at Central Park. Like the previous day, the rain decided to come down in buckets. That's okay though because we are troopers! We hiked up to the Belvedere Castle which had some shelter. The castle also had a nice view of the park. Some of the umbrellas from the previous day had been broken so today some ponchos were purchased.

After we finished up our walk through Central Park, we ended up at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, also known as the M.E.T. We walked around and saw some famous artists such as Monet and Van Gogh. Sculptures and artifacts from Ancient Greece and Rome. Even a room from a home that was covered from the volcano Pompeii that erupted in AD 79. The room was excavated and looks like it is in prime condition. The red paint is the original paint even. The boys had a great time looking at the Arms and Armarment section of the museum. Some of the groups even saw Jamie Lee Curtis just walking around the MET.

From the MET we went to 30 Rockefeller to go to the Top of the Rock. Luckily for us the weather cleared up and we were able to see excellent views of the city from 70 floors up. The views from the top were amazing. You could see the all of Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, everything New York has.

We needed to buddy up for tickets to go up and Tekoa picked Mrs. Trinidad!

After our trip to the Top of the Rock, we strolled down 5th Ave to check out the stores or get a bite to eat. We finally ended up again in Times Square where our dinner was to take place at Bubba Gump. We had about an hour in Times Square to check out the shops. Since the night before we had Italian food, many of the students went back to Cheeseburgers.

We were lucky enough that we got to our hotel in Philadelphia quite early for us, 8:45. There was time for the students though to have a great time in the pool. We are only staying in this hotel tonight and then we go see Philadelphia and onto Washigton DC.
